Michael Maltzan, FAIA is the founder and design principal of Los Angeles-based Michael Maltzan Architecture, Inc., an architectural, urban and landscape design practice founded in 1995. His work creates physical, cultural and social catalysts across a range of scales and project types. His interest in architecture and its role in urbanism are reflected in both his design work as well as numerous authored publications including No More Play: Conversations on urban Spectulation in Los Angeles and Byone that investigates potential future cities through a series of conversations with contemporary architects, designers, theorists and artists. Michael received a Master of Architecture degree with a Letter of Distinction from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. He holds both a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.

Introduced and moderated by Stephen Phillips, AIA, PhD, Principal of Stephen Phillips Architects (SPARCHS) and associate professor, director, Cal Poly LA Metro Program in Architecture & Urban Design (California Polytechninc State University, San Luis Obispo).
